Justin Bieber was crowned the King of Twitter earlier this year when he overtook Lady Gaga's follower count.
But it would appear the award was bogus as the study reveals Gaga has in fact got more real followers.
Justin, 19, leads the top ten Twitter accounts for fake fans with around 45 per cent of his following believed to be completely phony.
This means Justin actually has around 17.8 million followers compared to Gaga's 19 million
.
The data also considers fake accounts to incessantly tweet buzz phrases such as "diet", "make money" and "work from home", reports Socialbakers
1. The account is following less than 50 people and has less than one follower.
2. They repeat spam phrases like “diet,” “make money,” and “work from home.”
3. Tweets are repeated more than three times.
4. More than 90% of the account’s tweets are retweets.
5. More than 90% of tweets are links and the profile has a following: followers ratio of 7: 1 or more. This means the profile is following 7 users while only being followed by 1.
6. The account has never tweeted.
